How to Transfer Ownership

How to Change the Registered Ownership of a Greyhound with the GBGB
This fact sheet tells you the correct procedure for changing the registered ownership of your greyhound with the Greyhound Board of Great Britain. If you need more information or have any queries you should write to us at GBGB, Procter House, 1 Procter Street, London WC1V 6DW.

Required Documents:

Stud Book (Irish Coursing Club or Greyhound Stud Book)
In the case of the Greyhound Stud Book (British-bred greyhounds), you must complete the change of ownership beforehand.

In the case of the Irish Coursing Club the GBGB have an agreement to register changes of ownership on the ICC's behalf and do not charge any additional fees for this service.

GBGB Change of Registered Ownership Certificate
You can get this from your local GBGB licensed racecourse. The form must be completed in every detail and then signed by each owner in the spaces provided. Owners that have not previously registered greyhounds with the GBGB are required to provide proof of identity and address. Please read the front of the Change of Registered Ownership Certificate for further details.

Change of Registered Ownership Procedure
Take the documents above and the relevant fees to the Racing Manager of the GBGB racecourse. The documents and the Race Record Book will be forwarded to the GBGB for the Change of Registered Ownership to be approved.

Do not send in documents and/or fees directly to GBGB as this will result in a delay to the transfer.

The GBGB charge a change of ownership fee of £26. There is a £81 fee for change of the registered name of a greyhound.
