Latest News - Record numbers at track safety seminars hail events a great success
11/11/2009
A record number of attendees, representing the majority of GBGB tracks, supported this year’s Track Safety Seminars held at Oxford and Nottingham stadia on the 27th and 28th October, organised by the board’s Track Sub-committee.
Track ground staff, vets, promoters and other license holders met to hear from a variety of speakers including Bill Glass, Operations Director at Gaming International, consultant minerals engineer and greyhound owner Dr Terry Veasey, Society of Greyhound Vets President Tony Collins and GBGB Track Safety Consultant John Haynes.
The presentations explored recent American research into track safety, the importance of careful track watering and winter track preparation and links between track safety, injuries and the role of vets. A demonstration of new track preparation equipment was also provided.
The events also provided a good opportunity for discussion, networking and debate and it is expected that further seminars will take place in autumn 2010.
