Latest News - Greyhound Board appoints new PR agency
03/12/2009
The Greyhound Board of Great Britain has announced the appointment of a new public relations agency to assist the sport’s on-going commercial development. Ward Lovett Advertising and PR, based in Cannock have been awarded a one year contract to provide PR services for 2010.
Clive Feltham, GBGB Marketing Sub-committee Chairman said:
“I would like to thank Freerange Communications for providing a great service to greyhound racing for the past 3 years. The team delivered some innovative campaigns and demonstrated an understanding of the challenges greyhound racing faces. They have achieved some great local and national coverage, in addition to providing a national platform for tracks to share best practice in PR. As is often the case with a creative brief though, every so often it’s beneficial to freshen up the approach and Ward Lovett proposed some outstanding ideas to the committee.”
Ward Lovett was awarded the contract after a successful pitch in November and has a strong working knowledge of the industry, having been involved closely with the sport through national advertising and providing individual tracks with PR support.
Nick Lovett, Managing Director said:
“We expect to deliver a more joined-up approach to the sports overall marketing and communications strategy. The battle for the leisure pound, in every sector, has never been greater and the challenge for Ward Lovett is to provide the twenty-seven GBGB tracks with cohesive marketing and PR coverage that drives home the message that a night at the dogs, is cheaper, more fun, more engaging than anything else you can spend your money on.”
James McCreadie, GBGB press officer added:
“I look forward to working closely with the team at Ward Lovett, they pitched impressively for the business and will provide both a good sounding board and a well of engaging stories which will help place greyhound racing firmly on the nation’s social agenda and drive footfall to tracks.”
